Microsoft Dynamics AX Axapta Brazil implementation notes

Axapta or now Microsoft Dynamics AX (with the new name for Microsoft Project Green – Microsoft Dynamics) is in the early stages of requirements mapping for the first implementation in Brazil. It is localized to support Brazilian taxation, federal and state reporting and has been translated into Portuguese. In this small publication we would like to focus on Axapta’s strengths and how they should fit with the Brazilian business needs

o Supply chain management. Axapta supports intra-company purchase orders to fulfill external customer orders, allowing you to design and implement flexible internal cost and profit allocation within your group or company. Axapta also supports the seamless connection between the service module (repair, preventative maintenance, damage estimation, etc.) and the on-demand manufacturing order (manufacturing module). Another nice Axapta flexibility feature is the presentation of the Axapta business logic via web services, which in turn allow the repair team technician to enter the parts list into the mobile device and transmit the order over the air to the Axapta server. This also opens the door for barcode and warehouse management automation\

o Manufacturing. Historically, ERP has been divided into two types: discrete and process manufacturing. Discrete manufacturing, where you expect a fixed number of items made from a fixed number of components, labor and machine time, is traditionally better automated than process manufacturing, where you don’t expect an exact outcome: food processing, beverage, mining, oil refining, etc You can expect excellent discrete manufacturing from Axapta as well as very good process manufacturing via some 3rd party add-ons and custom enhancements. If you consider integration with supply chain management, you get a very flexible and cost-effective factory automation. In addition, Axapta has a flexible and intuitive product configurator module to enable custom manufacturing based on the customer’s individual order requirements

BACA JUGA:  Import Services - Are we losing jobs to foreign markets?

o Service Management. Imagine a machine service franchise business when you need to maintain and support a fleet of machines across Brazil – replace parts on a one-off basis, order parts from your franchisor warehouses and manufacturing facilities worldwide

o CRM. Axapta has its own CRM module integrated with order processing and Microsoft Dynamics CRM is planned to be integrated with Axapta in 2006/2007 to give you worldwide CRM department functions

o Situation in the US. Currently – 2006 – Microsoft Dynamics/Microsoft Business Solutions has its facility in Fargo, ND (famous Great Plains Software Dynamics and later Microsoft Great Plains) to “localize” the Axapta financial and human resources module for the US and Canadian markets .

Oh Europe. Axapta is localized for German, Dutch, French, Spanish, Italian and Russian markets. Axapta also supports Unicode – support for Chinese and Japanese characters

o Multinational company. International Manager usually speaks English, probably some Spanish or German. The priority for international managers is clarity of reporting and transaction level verification (if required). Axapta supports multilingual and seamless transaction verification. We would like to emphasize that for multinational companies, preferably ERP is the one that comes from world ERP providers like SAP, Oracle, Microsoft to answer questions about the control of Brazilian subsidiaries

o Axapta Business Portal. Axapta has a three tier architecture and allows you as a developer to enable the deployment of business logic objects via a web service in a simple MS Visual Studio.Net procedure. This in turn gives Axapta additional benefits and flexibility at the web presence level of the business portal compared to such “legacy” products as Microsoft Dynamics GP Great Plains or Microsoft Dynamics NAV Navision.
