Maximize your Medisoft! (Unknown and underused features of Medisoft)

How Medisoft helps your practice work more efficiently.

As you read this article, please keep in mind that some of the features I will be discussing may not be available in previous versions or in all models, Patient Accounting, Advanced and Network Professional.

Many practices are more than satisfied with the daily use of Medisoft. Did you know that most practices only use Medisoft about 40% of its capacity?

For those unfamiliar with Medisoft, here is a quick overview. Medisoft is practice management software for medical and medical practices. Any doctor, from physical therapists to brain surgeons, can use this software. Facilities and organizations such as pharmacies, ambulatory health services, billing services and surgery centers can also maximize their office functionality by using Medisoft. The suite of Medisoft solutions gives offices everything they need to fully automate their practice. From scheduling appointments and documenting patient care electronically to billing and account management, Medisoft helps make the practice more efficient and profitable.

Medisoft is the most user-friendly software you can buy and can be easily customized to meet your unique practice needs. More than just a medical billing system, Medisoft has the ability to increase productivity, improve efficiency, simplify administration, and strengthen work and financial flow.

Medisoft manages patient scheduling, overdue patient and insurance accounts, collections, write-offs, and patient co-payments. Here are some key features you might not know about:

Make patient appointments: The workflow process begins when a patient makes an appointment. Did you know that you can schedule office visit templates to use the Find Open Time feature? You can also review patient balances and apply patient balances from the appointment window

Payment plans for patients: Medisoft can create patient payment schedules that include the date the first payment is due, the payment due date (ie, every 30 days), and the amount due. Should the patient deviate from the scheduled payment schedule, the patient will be included in the collections list function, at which time you can create a collections letter.

Patient quick entry: This feature allows you to select which fields from the patient and case windows to include in a patient quick entry template and even add initial defaults. You can also select any custom data items created in Custom Patient Designer or Custom Case Designer, e.g. B. a custom combo box. This feature allows you to enter patient and case data through a simple window.

Collection list: The collection list has replaced the work list that was available in previous versions of Medisoft. The collection list helps you manage financial transactions that need to be selected for collection. You can create Tickler items to track patient and carrier collection efforts. You can also create and track collection letters.

BillFlash integration: Medisoft allows you to process your bank statements online via BillFlash. Upload your bank statements from Medisoft to BillFlash and BillFlash takes care of the printing and shipping. You retain the ability to review and approve the statements before BillFlash distributes them. All your data is securely stored and transmitted.

Default printer option: Medisoft 15 introduced a new feature to select a default printer for printing super bills, claims and statements. This setting is stored in the user’s Medisoft login profile/workstation.

Warning about future appointments – Office Hours Professional and Office Hours Network Professional: Medisoft’s Office Hours Professional notifies you when you enter a new appointment for a patient who already has an appointment scheduled in the future. This alert appears in the New Appointment Entry or Edit Appointment Entry window as a Patient has a future appointment button with a magnifying glass. You can click the button to view future appointments for the patient.

Write-off option for small balances: Medisoft has the ability to depreciate statements sent the number of times specified in the submission counter field by due date and/or dollar amount.

Task scheduler: This feature allows users to schedule backups of their data and schedule reports to be generated automatically on a user-defined schedule. This can save valuable time by automating the report printing process.

This feature allows you to enter patient notes and narratives, as well as letters and other documents necessary for the practice. This includes creating templates in the letter wizard for things like appeals and overpayment requests that can automatically pull pre-selected data from the patient’s chart.

Medisoft Reports: Medisoft has 229 reports, pie charts and graphs to help you manage your practice. All reports can be modified with the professional version of Medisoft Reports.
